Online Roulette: How to Play and Where to Play in the UK.

rouletteThe game of Roulette consists of a wheel that has numbered pockets ranging from 0 to 36, a ball and a table on which to place your bets. It´s one of the most simple and popular casino games on the Internet.

Roulette Description: The aim of the game is to forecast the number of the pocket that the ball will come to a rest on on. There are various types of bets that you can make to predict the outcome of the spin and throw.

Roulette: The Basics
You play against the casino. The wheel is spun in one direction, the ball is thrown in the other direction and bets are placed by the punters who then wait anxiously for the ball to come to rest in a pocket.
There are 2 main types of roulette: in European Roulette the wheel has 37 pockets (Numbers 0 to 36, ie only one zero pocket). In American Roulette games, roulette wheels have two zero pockets: a 0 pocket and a 00 bed, ( ie a total of 38).

ROULETTE TIP: Always aim to play on a European table, as the odds are better wihen there is only one zero. This is particularly important if you are placing money on the even-money bets such as red/black, odd/even. For more information. see our write up on roulette strategy To play place your bets on pockets (any including the 0), or any other areas betting table ( for detailed information on the different roulette bet options see below).

What is the Casino Advantage?

In European Roulette the Casino Advantage is 2.7%. In American Roulette the casino advantage is 5.26%. Most of the variants you’ll see online, like Premier Roulette, are European variants.

What does this mean? Well, on average, if you bet £100 on a European table you would lose £2.70 and on an American table you would lose £5.40. So why do people play? (I hear you ask). Well, why do people gamble?
These figures are average figures- some people win win, some people will lose. There are ways of minimising the house edge by careful selection of the bets you make, but ultimately the way people win at roulette is to hit a winning streak and then walk away when they are up. The person who has won has generally done so at the expense of someone who has lost though, so be warned! Treat roulette as entertainment and play sensibly.

Roulette Systems.
There are many theories and strategies that claim to be able to reveal the secret of winning at roulette. Beware! There are no systems that can physically change the house advantage of roulette- this is set by the physical attributes of the wheel and ball. There are, however, ways of making your play more methodical, and it can be fun to test some of these systems out.
