Glasgow Bettor Wins £350,000 from £1 bet- William Hill's Luckiest Ever Punter

Posted on May 19th, 2011

What do you make from this return on investment? A Glasgow punter has just landed a big win: £350,000 from a one pound flutter.
He placed a 50p each-way bet that has been coined by high street bookie William Hill as one of the biggest accumulator wins from their “luckiest ever punter.”

The single Glaswegian (not for long) hit the big one on the GGs with a seven-horse accumulator.

The man, who has been unemployed for 5 years after heart surgery, said he was in a state of disbelief and said his mind was “a car crash”.

He wants to buy his own house and visit his family who live overseas.

He said: “I’m in shock. I place these tiny bets all the time and everyone tells me I’m nuts.

“I’ve been close a couple of times but this is amazing.

“My brain was fried and I couldn’t figure out the numbers sitting in my sports betting account. At first I assumed it would net about £2 grand and I had to get my son to come and confirm that the numbers were saying I’d actually scooped£353 grand.”

The winner placed his 50p each-way accumulator on 7 horses running at Brighton, Nottingham, Towcester and Kempton.

William Hill muttered: “He’s our luckiest ever punter.” Ah well. I suppose they can milk it for the publicity.
