Middlesbrough’s is gunning to build a large casino: the council should find out today of the possibility of their plans coming to fruition, as The House of Lords are due to debate two measures which, if passed, will give the green light for Middlesbrough and 7 other councils to build casino complexes.
8 additional towns are also in the running to have smaller casinos. The plans were rubber stamped by the House of Commons in March: Things stalled in March last year when the House of Lords threw out the plans, mostly down to the fact that they included the proposal for a super casino in Manchester.
The supercasino plans have subsequently been scrapped following Gordon Brown´s promotion to the throne.
A large casino can have up to 150 slots with jackpots up to £4,000.
Middlesborough FC was sponsored by 888 Casino at one time, altough they subsequently withdrew their sponsorship when the price rocketed. They now limit their involvement in sports to the Spanish football league and the snooker.
