Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal has died aged 79

Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, the former Las Vegas casino executive and the man who inspired the  movie "Casino," has  passed away aged 79 on October 13th 2008
Rosenthal died from a heart attack in his Miami home.

Rosenthal managed the Stardust, Fremont, Hacienda and Marina casinos through the 70s and 80s.

One of the big names in sports betting, Rosenthal big idea at the casinos was to allow female blackjack dealers; this doubled the Stardust's take in less than a year.

In the ´95 Martin Scorsese film Casino, Rosenthal was played by Robert De Niro, and  his sidekick Anthony Spilotro was played by Joe Pesci.
