Poker Promotion Bonanza in Europe Following PokerStars Shut Down.

Posted on April 19th, 2011

Well I guess you have all heard about the Poker shut down in the States. Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker : “The Big 3” in the US (and globally) have lost a high stakes bet against the US government and the Feds in particular. Real money play is (may be, could be, depending which lawyer you speak to) is banned in the US. These 3 companies have been accused of flouting US law following the banning of companies making transactions to fund player´s accounts.

What has happened in the US?
On Friday 15th April 2011, The US Gov. came down on a number of Poker rooms that have been accepting players from the US despite the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (U.I.G.E.A) 2006. The FBI has taken control of the domain names of some of the biggest Poker sites on the planet.

But not to worry if you live in the UK, otherwise now known as “The Land of The Free”! 😉 Online poker is perfectly legal here. And all of the big European poker companies here are falling over themselves to attract European players affected by the fallout. After all- you´d be slightly crazy to continue playing with these companies, if you want to be 100% sure of being able to withdraw your winnings.

They are literrally throwing money at poker players to get them to sign up with their sites. Here is a list of the best poker promotions following the US fall out:
